Cain and Abel Genesis 4

Cain and Abel made history
The story is really quite sad to see
For Cain killed Abel and had to flee
"Whoever finds me will kill me!"

It was not the last religious fuss.
They've always been down here with us.
"God liked his gift but he didn't like mine!
A tiny lamb over 'fruit of the vine'!"

The Lord gave warning but he didn't hear.
"Do what is right and there's nothing to fear."
His anger festered. His heart filled with hate.
Sin was crouching at Cain's garden gate.

A plot was hatched. They went down in the field
Where Cain attacked Abel. His brother was killed.
He buried his brother down deep in the ground.
Where he knew that Abel would never be found

God's voice softly spoke, "Cain, where is your brother?"
"How should I know? We don't speak to each other."
The Lord spoke again: "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???
You are under a curse and now on the run"

"Your brother lies dead, deep in the earth.
Your crops and land have lost all their worth.
You're parents are crushed like the grapes you once grew.
A mark for your sin will identify you."

So Cain went out to the land of Nod,
Away from his land and away from God.
His 'fallen nature' came from his kin,
For Adam and Eve were the first to sin.

That 'fallen nature' is still here today,
But there's HOPE, precious hope when we pray,
"Father, forgive. We trust in your love,
Seen in your Son who came down from above.

To die on a cross as the payment for sin,
And giving us Someone to truly trust in."
This ancient story is sad but true.
But in HIM there is joy for me and for you!
