Have you sat in church on a Sunday night
And dozed a bit tho' it didn't seem right?
But the Preacher's voice had a monotone
And his sermon seemed to go on and on.
We have to admit it has happened to us
In the Bible it claimed poor Eutychus!
The speaker of note was Apostle Paul
One young man there was in for a fall.
He seated himself, as youth likes to do
Far from the front;on the very last pew.
It wasn't a "pew", but it filled that bill.
A third story seat on the window sill.
Paul was leaving Troas the very next day,
And he had so much that he wanted to say
That he just couldn't stop; It all was so right.
The sermon went on 'till it was midnight!
Poor Eutychus slept. Good and sound
He fell out the window and hit the ground.
It was three stories down. The stones crunched his head.
A man below called out, "This man's dead!"
"Brother Paul, pardon please, but you really must know
A young man has fallen to the street down below!"
Paul rushed down the stairs to the road outside,
To the bloody spot where Eutycus died.
He flung himself on his body and prayed
For life to return where Eutychus laid.
God's touch was there and healing came
The people shouted and praised His name.
They went back inside, amazed at this feat
Of God alone! "Praise the Lord! Let's eat!"
You might think that now Paul wouldn't go on.
Wrong you are, dead reader, he preached till dawn!
Most Christians today would not give a thought
To a service that long, even if PAUL taught!
The best we can do is maybe an hour.
And we wonder and ask, "Where is the Power?"
This event is found in Acts 20:7-12
