Listen, my children, and you shall hear
About the servant who lost his ear.
It was whacked off clean by the rogueish leader,
Later, at least; named Simon Peter.
His target was really poor Malcus'es head.
If he hadn't dodged he would have been dead!
Jesus said whoa! "No more of this!"
Greater matters loomed. Betrayed by a kiss!
"What an awful time for me, I fear.
No doctor around and I've lost my ear."
"You are wrong, Dear Malcus, wrong as can be.
A Doctor is near and He'll treat you for free! "
The Lord took his ear and cleaned off the dirt,
Put it back in place and it didn't hurt.
That's the only time we read this man's name.
Losing an ear was his claim to fame.
You know what? I think when we gather up there
In that heavenly place where all is fair.
A man will be there who once lost an ear.
But THE GREAT PHYSICIAN was standing near.
This account is found in Dr. Luke's gospel 22:49-53
