Old Songs

No poem today. I am going to muse for my own amuse-ment. Don't you long for the days of the wonderful old songs about love and romance and moon and stars and whatever? I have a book I ordered recently called "The Sheet Music Reference and Price Guide". This book contains the names of most all the pop songs written for the last century or more. Let me share a few titles with you and when the song was written, if available. We've come a long way baby?

Can You Tame Wild Wimmen - 1918
Cement Mixer, Put-ti, Put-ti - 1946
I'm A Twelve O'clock Feller In A Nine O'clock Town - 1917
Isch Ga Bibble (I should worry) - 1913
Keep Away From The Fellow Who Owns An Automobile - Irving Berlin 1912
Who Paid The Rent For Mrs Rip Van Winkle? - 1916

Then there were the "war" songs. Why don't we have some today?

General Pershing - 1918
My Sergeant And I Are Buddies - 1942 Irving Berlin
It's A Long Way To Berlin But We'll Get There - 1917
Over The Top - 1917
Ballad Of The Green Berets -1966
Remember Pearl Harbor - 1942
Der fuehrer's Face - 1942
I'm Getting Corns For My Country - 1944

We certainly remember the Irish songs (the other ones, that is)

K-K-K Katy - 1918
Who Threw The Overalls In Mrs Murphy's Chowder? - 1899
I Never Liked O'Regan - 1890
Since Maggie Dooley Learned The Hooley Hooley - 1916
Down Went McGinty Dressed In His Best Suit of Clothes - 1889

Last, but certainly not least are the Disney songs:

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo - 1949
Heigh Ho - 1938
A Spoon Full Of Sugar - 1964
Zip-Ah-Dee-Doo-Dah - 1946
When You Wish Upon A Star

So there you have it. What we have sung. What we are singing now. (What?)

Just Museing
