A Really Good Day

Did you ever have or have recently a really good night? Or day? It
is when everything goes just right or even beyond expectations. Let me share one of mine. It goes back to High School days in Fort Smith. Our football team was playing Muskogee, Oklahoma at their field. I was invited to ride in the band bus though I wasn't in the band. I did sing in the high school quartet,"The Blue Moon Boys", and we performed with the band. When we arrived at the stadium one of the guys loaned me his bass horn. Another gave me an overcoat to cover up my non-uniform and I marched in free! Big deal for me. Just before the kickoff the announcer for Muskogee asked for a spotter for Fort Smith. I knew all the players so I volunteered. I sat on the fifty-yard line under cover on a cold and drizzley night and spotted for the Grizzlies. That would have been enough, but it wasn't all. The band was invited to the gym afterwards for refreshments with the Muskogee band. They had a drawing at the door. They called my name and I won a GIANT candy bar with pecans all over and in it! That bar would have cost at least two dollars! That was a really good night. May not sound like much to you today, but it was and still is BIG for me.
What does it take for you to have a really good day? Win the lottery? Travel to Switzerland? Have a pain-free day? Get a call from your son or daughter or a long-lost friend? Watch your favorite team pull off a win when they were supposed to lose? Read a Bible verse or two written just for you? Read a good book? What would make a really good day? I wish one for you real soon, with a nougat bar covered in pecans!

" A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." Proverbs 25:11
