Were Ishbi-Benob alive and well in the world today.
He'd be a hoopster superstar in the NBA.
David went to war again. He should not have been there.
Soon he was exhausted. They gave him special care.
They told him words a warrior never likes to hear.
"You cannot come again with us. Losing you we fear."
Over on the other side a giant with a spear
and with a hatred for this king hoped he would appear
He brought with him a brand new sword to finish up the job.
His goal was death to David. His name Ishbi - Benob.
A brave young soldier from the ranks, whose name was Abishai,
Struck down the giant soldier, causing him to die.
In still another battle which took place at Gath,
A huge man like they'd never seen, stood up in their path.
Each hand had six big fingers. Each foot six massive toes.
That was enough to frighten all who sought to be his foes.
He threw his taunts at Israel until they'd had enough.
David's nephew,Jonathan, claimed he wasn't tough.
He fought this giant whose digits numbered twenty-four;
Struck a blow and killed him! They prayed there'd be no more.
David sang a song to God his refuge and his Savior
He praised the Lord that once again he could claim God's favor.
These warriors of an ancient age were mighty men of God
Their comfort, David sang so sweet, came from God's staff and rod.
