One Foolish Moment

He stuck his spinning head into the sack again,
inhaling each tiny microbe in the brain.
The idling engine cried to be freed with all it's
throbbing power.
A black-topped highway shouted, " More! More!".
The truck soared a hill and raced toward the valley,
with only a slow-moving van in sight.

On the van it said: SUNNILAND NURSING
HOME. WE CARE FOR YOU.
Swerving too late the truck and van lock in a death grip.
Over and over the van flips, finally halted by a long-dead
tree, hosting tangled wires from it's cross.

Flames burst to the sky. Two precious people die.
A third would sadly cry
"Dear God, help me!"
A fourth would stare and see
his world is now no longer free.
He staggers to his wounded steed,
searching vainly for the seed
that brought about this awful deed.

" And how does your defendant plead?"

Peg Boatright Putnam:

What a nice surprise when I pulled up the BLOG.
I look forward to taking time to absorb your entries.

Have not had a chance to read everything above as just found your blog and it is late. My eyes are telling me to go 'nitey nite".

Keep in touch.

Just "lil ole me", Peg

Lee:

Very well done Father.

lpd:

This poem is so well written. Ofcourse it has deeper meaning than some might know but it is a gripping and heartfelt read none the less. And for the record I like this version better than the P-n-P version. Thank you for sharing.
