It was well into night but I just couldn't leave,
for the very next day I would speak Christmas Eve.
A soft rap on the door and I answered, "Come in."
There stood an old man who was bearded and thin.
"Sir, I need just a meal and a place to stay,
I plan to be gone by Christmas day.
You must know I'm not Christian; Jewish by birth,
my rich family I left. I have nothing on earth.
We went to an inn where he had a fine meal
and a bed and bath; his thanks I could feel.
My talk Christmas Eve simply wasn't the same
since the visit from one who gave me no name.
" Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2
(This happened to the writer the day before Christmas Eve 1992)
