Star In The East

Star in the east was a mystery star,
bringing Magi who came from afar,
seeking a king they knew had been born; whose soft, tiny head would be pierced by a thorn.

Herod heard of that star, and the Magi, and birth
of this threat to his throne that had come to earth,
so he called for the Magi and lied to them:
"Tell where the child is; I will go worship him."

Leaving Herod, they went on their way
not fooled by the words the old king had to say.
That star led them right to the house where they were.
These wise men gave gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh.

Warned in a dream what the king was about
they returned to the east by a different route.
That star can still shine in a heart today
leading one lost to the Christ walk and way.

"After they had heard the king they went on their way
and the star they had seen in the east went ahead
of them until it stopped over the place where the child
was. When they saw the star they were overjoyed.
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his
mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped
Him." Matthew 2:9-11
