Global Incidents

A friend sent me a world map (E-mail) updated every fifty-five minutes, noting dangerous or potentially dangerous events happening in various places around the world. It is a bit scary to see and read about the bombs and other confrontations taking place in every part of the world. We do live in perilous times. Just think when, (not if) nuclear bombs get into play. There are minds today who would not be bothered one bit by destroying an entire city with a nuclear weapon. "And in despair I bowed my head. There is no peace on earth, I said. For hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men." Longfellow wrote that in 1864 during American Civil War times. In that awful war,at Gettysburg, July 1-3, there were 51,112 casualties, Blue and Gray. Today the weapons are more powerful and people have become more callous toward their fellow man. Women and children are acceptable targets as well as participants. I would be terribly depressed by it all were it not for the great truth that God still has a say and a way. More than that we are offered eternal life through belief in His Son. That trust is the only sure thing in unsure times.
