THE TOMB

If you visit Old Jerusalem more than likely your guides will show two different sites where it is thought Jesus was buried following His crucifixion. At one site a church has been built. At the second site called Gordon's tomb named after the British soldier who discovered it a century or so ago there is nothing more than a small cave one can enter. Inside are two places much like stone benches carved from the rock and large enough for a body to be laid on each slab of rock. There is no stone outside but a track is hewn in the rock where a stone could have been located much like a large wheel. On the inside over the door is a simple sign quoting the Scripture, "He is not here but is risen.".

Obviously, Jesus wasn't buried at both places. Gordon's Tomb looked to me like it could have been the place. It really isn't that important. Whether it was at one or the other or another site yet unknown is rather insignificant, exept to Biblical historians. What is incredibly important is that the site was vacated in a matter of hours. On the third day He left that place, body and spirit. Before He was placed there He left in spirit to go wherever God chose. Another debatable subject. Bottom line is that a body emptied of spirit was buried. A resurrected body and spirit greeted the Believers on that Easter day and following. As it was with the Lord so it is with the Believer. At death the spirit goes to be with the Father. The body returns to the earth. "I serve a risen Savior!". Through His victory we are also certain on victory over death, hell and the grave.
Come on, everybody! Get on board!
