The name is quite a harsh one, not pleasant to the ear,
But in those brief three chapters are words we need to hear.
The central theme is FAITH and TRUST. He rules out chance and luck.
This Book bears well the writer's name; A prophet HA-BAK-KUK.
Habakkuk was a singer. A chorister of note.
Doubtings overwhelmed him and of them he wrote.
He often asked a question much like you and I,
Gazing to the sky above he would whisper, "Why?".
His doubting is sincere for sure, like that which Thomas spoke,
But faith will lift him up to see and break the doubter's yoke.
Read that last verse of chapter two, NO! read all of them!
"Let all the earth be silent.........before HIM!"
' Though the fig tree does not bud
No grapes are on the vines,
Though the olive crop has failed
Food in the field declines.
Though there are no sheep in pens
No cattle in the stalls
I am rejoicing in the Lord,
No matter what befalls!
Soverign Lord, he is my strength,
My feet are like a deer,
I climb on upward to the heights,
There's nothing I can fear.'
(Habakkuk 3:17-19 paraphrased for rhyme)
