If you follow birds at all you know the Ivory Billed Woodpecker has been thought , for a number of years, to be extinct in the United States. Then, just a couple of years ago stories of its sighting and sounds came from some Arkansas swampland.. It brought great excitement to the birding world. Research teams from Cornell University, the premier birding school in the country, began to comb this swamp by boat in search of the bird. While in Arkansas a few days ago I met Dr.Kannon, professor of ornithology at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith. Dr. Kannon is on the team searching for ivory-billed. A delightful man who came from India and educated at Cornell. I asked him point blank," does the ivory-billed exist?" He said 100% sure. Yes! It does exist. His answer was something like this." We have not seen it, or photographed it, but we have heard its call and heard it's resounding pecking on trees to know those are only the sounds of an ivory-billed." Birders await the photograph of this giant woodpecker. However
an expert, Dr. Kannon, is 100% sure it exists, even if no photograph is made.
Does God exist? There are no photographs. No one has seen God. The world is filled with skeptics; many are people of science. Others, like myself, are 100% sure He does exist. We have no "proof"; no photographs, but the evidence is everywhere! His voice is often heard. His words are recorded in a Book! His presence is felt. His Son came and walked among earth people for thirty-three years. The heavens resound with the glory of God. Yes, there is God and this great Creator made the magnificent ivory-billed woodpecker. Do you have to see a photo to believe? I don't. I heard it from One who should know.
