See What You See

We call it the BIG DIPPER. Seven stars that can resemble the shape of a dipper. The Bible calls it the SEVEN STARS. Hindus call it SAPTA RISHI. To the Finns it is OTAVA. In Southern France it is the CASSEROLE (sauce pan). In Germany it is the Groser Wagen (big cart). In Great Britain it is THE PLOUGH. In Northern England it is sometimes called THE BUTCHER CLEAVER. I imagine it has a thousand different names around the world as peoples of all races and places see the seven brightest stars of URSA MAJOR.

How many times on a clear night away from city lights have you enjoyed seeing these seven stars and their smaller friends, the PLEIADES? Just think, by different names, people can point to the skies and see a cleaver or wagon or dipper or whatever. What an amazing creation God has made! Is your God as big as His creation? He should be. "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have ordained, What is man that you are mindful of him?" Psalm 8:3-4
