The Muse is Loose

It was August 26, 1935. Four boys had already been born to the Maurer household. They were George, Johnny, Charlie, and Bobby. Several years had already past since the last one, Bobby, had been born. It was a girl! They named her Agnes Ann Maurer. Some records show her as Anne. We'll never really know which one she is! All of this happened in the little Valley city of Pharr, Texas.

She was baptized at First Baptist Church, Pharr. Ann or Anne graduated from Pharr, San Juan, Alamo High School. It was simply known as PSJA. She attended Pan American college in Edinburg, Texas and later transferred to Lilly Jollie School of Nursing at Memorial Baptist Hospital in Houston. One summer while there Ann went as a BSU summer missionary to Africa. It was a life changing event. During her last year she met a guy, Dale Pogue, fresh out of the army. They met at First Baptist Church in Houston. They married December 17, 1957 at her home church in Pharr. After a honeymoon trip to Mexico, Ann and Dale made their first home in a small apartment on Lipscomb Street in Fort Worth. He enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Seminary and began being a staff member at Wilshire Hills Baptist Church. Ann began work as a nurse at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. She was also church organist.

It has been a wonderful life with this incredible lady. She is just what she appears to be. We have been blessed by friends galore, and by two terrific children, Everett Lee Pogue and Laura Ann Pogue Duprie. The grandchildren? Thats another BLOG! They are the loves of our lives. Each one.
