Surely none of my four or five readers caught a tiny error in the last BLOG. It is relatively unimportant but I still feel correction is in order. The governmental bailout amount was NOT seventy-five billion but seven-hundred billion plus. It is so easy to make those kinds of small mistakes when it comes to money. When I was a boy I was janitor at our country church. I was paid $2.50 a month. Good money for a ten-year old. One Sunday morning as I was paid in cash I had the 2.50 in change in my pocket. I planned to give a tenth (.25 cents) in the plate. I felt out the quarter in my pocket and dropped it in the plate. To my shock and horror it was a half-dollar not a quarter making it's exit in that offering plate! I heard not a word of the sermon. All I could think of was my terrible mistake.(Pardon me, Lord, but that's the way I saw it at the time). After the service I fearfully approached the treasurer to ask him if I could have a quarter back since I had mistakenly given a half-dollar. He gave it to me, probably wondering if I had put in anything.
For a ten-year old back them that was a huge mistake. About as big as the one I made in the BLOG!
Last night (Friday) in Woodsboro at their homecoming the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs won their second game in a row. It was not easy. Woodsboro tied the game with only minutes to go. It went into overtime. Woodsboro got the ball first and drove for a field-goal try. It missed. Nixon-Smiley then scored to win the game 33-27. There was SOME celebration among those players, coaches and fans. This second win is twice as many as they had all last season. They have a week off before facing the most powerful team in their district, Navarro. Have a good week-end.
