Tricked you! I am writing about roaches. This is the Latin word for these unloved critters. They have been especially bad during these dry months. They do need water as we all do. There are 4000 species of them around the world. Surely a pair boarded the Ark. They can adapt to most any setting. They can go for three months without food and a month without water. They like warmth but can survive a freeze. They can withstand radiation so would survive a nuclear war. The female can have 300-400 little ones in her lifetime of one year. Step on a roach and he will often get up and run away. They hiss and chirp and even fly. Cut his head off and he keeps on going. It is no wonder this critter is found in fossils. He/she is a survivor.
Do you love roaches? Do you have one for a pet? Are you afraid of them? Do you hate them? Probably. But they are going to be around like it or not. They are made to last. Roaches do have a place in the scheme of things. I just wish that place wasn't in our house. I got up early this morning and was making coffee when I saw those two long antennas from behind a dish. He knew I was there. I knew he was there. He also seemed to know I would not do anything drastic because of his location. A handy roach spray ruined his plans. Now I have poisoned my environment and eliminated only ONE. Such is the battle with roaches, You know, the battle with SIN is kinda like that. It keeps surviving through the ages. It multiplies faster than we can control it. SIN is no respecter of persons or places. We fight it until we die. If we do live here a thousand years after this life the Lord will have to do a massive clean-up. I think we will simply have a new heaven and a new earth like the Book says. I think I will write a song: "Everything Is Coming Up Roaches".
