O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You stand in verdant beauty!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You stand in verdant beauty!
Your boughs are green in summer's glow, And do not fade in win-ter's snow.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You stand in verdant beauty!
Old German Carol
This carol also is called "O Christmas Pine". Some of the words are different. We have a tree this year. We had none the last TWO YEARS. Ann wanted to see her ornaments again this year. Each one has a memory and I am pleased with that. We bought an artificial tree and I am
not pleased with that, but it is not a big deal. Well, not REALLY BIG! I do hope we will at least follow tradition and dispose of it at the curb after the season.
I was moved to poetry. Not the classic kind. This will not threaten Poe or Sandburg. Here it is. I am writing it as I......er....write it. What you get is what you see.
O CHRISTMAS PINE-A
O Christmas pina, O Christmas pina. You came to us from Chi-na!
Your boughs are green with plastic glow. You never grew in winter's snow.
No bubbling stream dared watch you grow. You're not from Car-o-li-na!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, I careth not a bit for thee.
Thy smell not like some pine or fir. No smell at all we both concur.
You're here to please....not me but her. You're nothing but a fake tree.
When baubles hang from every space. I may allow you in this place,
We hope to cover every trace....you came from off in Chi-na.
A goodly thought occured to me. You have no needles on your tree.
I'm saved from crawling on one knee. Plucking them from carpet-try!
