IF A MAN DIES......

Job first spoke these words. I wonder why he didn't say "when", but he didn't. His full question was: "If a man dies shall he live again?". That has been a question through the ages. Religions of all kinds have been invented seeking to answer the puzzling question. Jesus Christ came and gave through his death and resurrection the answer. However many are still puzzled about it all.

One of my fondest memories of our trip to the Holy Land was going to the ancient fortress and palace of Herod called Masada. A cable car carried us to the flat surface of the top of this small mountain overlooking the Dead Sea. It was there over 900 Zealots took their own lives, or were killed by their own people to avoid capture by a Roman Army who had laid siege around the base of Masada. There was a tiny winding trail called the snake path.. I walked down this narrow path to get off the mountain. Masada is a national shrine for the Jews today. To complete a Jewish soldier's training he must climb the snake path at night. Each promises he will never let Masada fall into another country's possession.

Back to what I first mentioned in this article: "If a man dies shall he live again?".In the 1960's during excavation work on Masada, a seed was discovered; perfectly preserved. It was estimated to be 2,000 years old. The seed was carefully germinated and a plant sprung out of that ancient seed. It is a date plant. It is the oldest germination on record. Now I ask you: "If life can spring from an ancient seed can it not spring from us one day?" The plant had no similarity in looks with the ancient seed. Life was somehow there preserved. God in His creative process has done amazing things. We haven't seen anything yet!
