Living In The Past

I spent most of the morning and afternoon of this day "living in the past". It all started when I brought totes from a storage room we rent. Plan to drop it February first. To bring them all back home some things have to go. That is the painful part, but made some progress The thing that slowed the process to a "crawl" was looking at all the pictures and reading all the stuff we have written and cards we have received through the years. Wow! What a neat time we have had on the road of life, even with the bumps and chugholes!

I re-read letters inviting us to consider certain churches in our ministry. I wondered how our lives would have been different. A lot I suppose. Our circle of friends would have changed, but couldn't have been better than the ones we enjoy today, and have enjoyed in the past.

I saw pictures of my beautiful bride of fifty-one years. I saw our kids enter the circle and parents leave the circle. I saw the grand-children as one by one they made their entrances.

I visited the beautiful places we camped after retirement: Canyonlands, Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier and Estes Park, and little-known places in-between. I was reminded of trips with young people and speaking engagements. I saw revival brochures and recalled some wonderful men who preached like Bill Tolar and Ramsey Pollard and J.D.Grey, and the best of all, Charles Fake!

So it has been a nostalgic afternoon with lots of recall but very little progress. The totes still need a home so the garage will welcome them with open door. I am in the present again. Got to get back to the tasks at hand. So here I go........zzzzzzzzz.
