If we didn't have enough to fret about, the Post Office is considering a five-day delivery instead of six. Wow! Who ever thought of that? You who have logged several years remember five-day delivery. The stamps were a dime or less. Anyway, I was thinking of what it might affect at our house.
l. The items we mail for Texas delivery now get there by Tuesday or Wednesday if mailed on Saturday. Mailing them on Friday instead of Saturday will probably mean folks in Texas won't get them until...... well Tuesday or Wednesday.
2. Offers of special deals, if responded to in twenty-four hours, will cause us to miss out and save lots of money.
3. We can leave on Friday for the week-end, secure in knowing there will be no mail accumulating in our box, except for the Friday delivery that usually comes after 5:00.
4. Mondays will be more exciting as we go retrieve all the unasked-for; unwanted circulars;
mini-magazines on cures and vitamins, and the inevitable bills.
We can survive a five-day mail delivery. Just give us a break and hold off on the .75 cent stamp for now.
We are heading for Nixon today. Dempsey plays basketball at 5:00. We will stay over for Emily's basketball game Saturday morning. For Calvin every day is a ball...!
