Tell me it isn't spring? I am sure it is. It must be the climate change. We are into spring house cleaning big time in January! There is a reason: The ROCKPORT GARDEN CLUB meets at our little house in the morning. We are talking maybe a dozen women, but that doesn't matter. There has been at least twenty bags of old leaves hauled to the county dump. Mowing and edging of course. Plucking the carpet grass that has creeped into most of our flower beds. I have even trapped two gophers who have eaten flowers like deer. The rugs have been professionally cleaned. Windows washed inside and out. Did I mention refreshments? I am anxiously awaiting the last car pulling away from the house. Not that I have anything against the Garden Club. It is just when they come here things go haywire. The truth is that this old house and yard really needed some help. Even in January. Tomorrow my brother-in-law arrives from Arkansas. Friday my brother and his new wife we have never met, arrive. The timeliness of it all seems to fit. I guess this frees me up in the Spring for some good birding. I hope so.
