It can be rightfully called "The Big Game" for the winner will be crowned National Champion among University football teams. Will Oklahoma or Florida be the unquestioned best team when one of them wins? Not unquestioned! In fact, questioned by many thousands. It seems kinda' ridiculous to call a team the National Champion when so many others have a valid claim. For my money Southern Cal looked the best of the rest. Apparently the pro scouts think the same. Several players are picked to go early in the draft. Texas did not look overpowering in their bowl win, but they won over a very good Ohio State team.
Do we need a playoff system? No question about it. The present system is full of holes. The pros have a valid way. Why can't the Universities follow suit? I imagine they will, but it won't help the teams of 08' who can have a valid claim for the title. How did Slippery Rock do this year? Haven't heard from them for some time.
