DROUGHT

We returned home this morning (Friday). Ann was in Nixon and I went to Richland Springs to check on the RV and stay with a hunting friend while his camphouse was worked on.

While there I drove to Brady, Texas, twice to get a part repaired. Brady is called THE CENTER of Texas. Let me tell you from the center of Texas to the South Texas coast of Texas it is dry! dry! dry! As I passed many ranches I noticed most were emptied of their cattle. Stock tanks (ponds in Arkansas), were dry and the bottoms were cracked and looked like ugly jigsaw puzzles. The field where our lease is located is so dry the brown grass crunches like you are walking on crusty snow..Where there are still cattle they are gathered together in places where hay is brought to them in those huge rolls. How dry is it? Well, less than a half inch of rain since the first of January. Not much more than that before. Here in South Texas the farmers have a planting dilemma.

So will the rains come? Eventually, for sure. It may come measured in feet not inches! Only the Lord knows. So we wait and water and pray that needed rains will soon fall.God is in charge of that operation. Jesus simply said: "He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:45) We trust Him in this process just like so many others. If we really believe in our rain prayers shouldn't we be carrying umbrellas?
