No one could do it like him. Others may try to keep the program going, but Paul Harvey is not replaceable. He has died at the age of 90. He started his radio career at KVOO in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a station I listened to often growing up in Fort Smith. Paul Harvey was a regular noon-time guest at our house. His programs had a special touch. He later added, "The Rest Of The Story". When he was released from the Army Air Corp in 1944 he began broadcasting in Chicago. He became the most listened to newscaster in Chicago, He called himself the largest one-man network in the world. He had more than 1200 stations carrying his program, along with 400 Armed Services Network stations. He also had columns in 300 newspapers. He was conservative in his presentation, and never became crude. It was the kind of program one could listen to with Grandma and not ever be embarrassed. There would always be something to smile about. I will miss Paul Harvey. He could now really tell us, "The Rest Of The Story". It would be a good one, for he was a good man.
