The Muse is Loose

I want to comment on the academy awards. I do so in total ignorance since I haven't been in a theater for years. I compliment the folks who changed the format. They gave a personal touch to those nominated. The persons were dressed elegantly. I remember some years when they were slobs. Most avoided the soap box. Sean Penn couldn't resist to do his tirade. Is he running for something?
It is interesting that OUR best picture is from and about India.or so it seemed to me. The movies nominated had their share of violence. Hollywood strikes me as a place where they really don't know which direction to go. I had a preacher in my high school years who preached against going to movies. There was no other place to go with a date so I went. I felt guilt about it. Later I came to deal with it a bit. If he was against movies then....what would he say now? I think I know and would quietly offer "Amen!".
