WINDS

On Thursday afternoon, here along the coast of South Texas, we had some violent weather. None in Rockport, but heavy winds nearby. The winds brought us much-needed rain. This morning the winds were mild and from the southeast. That is a wind coming from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It is always a cool and pleasant wind. Early Friday afternoon the wind shifted. It began to blow from the southwest. That is a desert wind. There was some dust in the air. In moments we went from the pleasant winds of the Gulf to the desert winds of Mexico and West Texas. Tonight the wind is predicted to once again shift. It will be from the NORTH! It is about ninety outside at this moment. The temp is to flirt with the forties! Southeast, West, and North within twenty-four hours. Welcome to weather in Texas!

The Texas winds are being harnessed with giant windmills to produce electricity. Hundreds have been built and hundreds more are in the works. I was fascinated as a boy in reading about the windmills of Holland. It was hard to believe the people wore wooden shoes. They also had huge dikes all about to protect them from the seas. Now, we have the dikes. We have the windmills. We only need the wooden shoes.Say, I believe we have those too!

Men have forever been attempting to control the winds and the water. There has been some success, but also awful, tragic failures such as seen in New Orleans. A Man walked the lands of the Middle East many years ago who had the power to control WIND and WAVE. He did not use the power for show, but those who saw Him use it never forgot. A violent storm whipped down the Lake of Galilee. It threatened to sink the boat the disciples were in. Jesus was sleeping through the storm. They awakened Him, frightened for their lives. "He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm. The men were AMAZED and asked, 'What kind of man is this?Even the winds and the waves obey him!' " That was the great question, "What kind of man is this?". The answer: "He was the Son of God. He took part in creating the world, and the winds, and the waves. That's the kind of Man He was." That is the One I worship and trust and seek to serve. You can trust this Wind Man!
