Few, if any, real believers would deny the importance of praise to God. It is imperative we do so. God does not live and survive on our praising Him, but spiritually we do. There is no right or wrong set way to praise Him. Some choose to do it in corporate settings with other worshippers. Others choose to praise Him in the aloneness of a place of solitude. Some praise aloud and others silently. Some do it through song and movement. Others worship in stillness. The importance is in worshipping. We might, at times, do each of these ways.
David gave words about praising God throughout the Psalms. Listen to what he said in Psalm 103:20-22.
"Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, O my soul."
These words say to me that David speaks of praise coming from the angels. He then speaks of praise as it should rise from his dominion....this world of people everywhere. But then the words become intensely personal, "Praise the Lord, O my soul." We may point and say of others, "They don't praise God", and it may be so. But what about you? What about me?. The bottom line of worship is that it is is intensely personal. Worship cannot be limited to brief settings at the church. It needs to be a way of life. Let us take moments, or more, each day to honor and praise and worship our great God who is worthy of worship, worthy of praise.
