Perhaps you have seen this Southwest Airlines commercial. A person has a real embarrassing experience and wants to get away. I had one today.
We were in Seguin, Texas where Dempsey Duprie, a grandson was playing in his first tennis tournament ever. To free mother Laura, I was watching the two-year old, Calvin. We were at the end of the courts, which are surrounded by wire. I was sitting on the grass. Immediately to the left of the court (and my left) is the eighteenth hole of their municipal golf course. A large tournament involving men was taking place. Calvin edged over to the back of the tennis court. He is always exploring, but wasn't bothering anyone. I was absorbed in the tournament until I saw Calvin coming toward me with a grin across his face. He was proudly holding up a beautiful white........golf ball! He had found it by the fence at the back of the court. I said, "Let me see it Calvin." He started to hand it to me and I said, "That looks like a real nice ball".........uhhh, just then I saw a golf cart approaching with two men aboard. One got off at the green. The other one kept coming toward US! I started pointing at the ball Calvin gripped. "Your ball", I was whispering. The cart arrived and the sullen golfer said, "Where was it?". I had to say, "I don't know exactly. He picked it up by the fence." Calvin was now tightly gripping the ball he had found. "Do you think it was playable?" I answered "I think so", but was thinking, "Only if you are Tiger Woods". Calvin reluctantly handed the ball to the golfer and we watched his shot roll off the other side of the green. Calvin was unbothered by it all, except for losing his keepsake ball. Me? I wondered just how far Southwest travels these days.
