It's A Small, Small, World

I just received an e-mail today from our former exchange student from Denmark, Esben Pedersen. I wrote about him in the last BLOG and how he had a questioning mind. Let me share some words from him. These were written as he reflected on that experience twenty years ago. "The year was very formative for me, perhaps in ways I had least expected. It taught me a great deal about the core American values and life, which I think sometimes is lost on many of the people living in the cocoon of ivy league education and investment banking jobs." An interesting comment and observation from one who observes from a different perspective. I have been concerned for years that too many of our leaders of both parties have been influenced by an Eastern philosophy, not from the Orient,
but from New England. We have brilliant people in our own sector of this country, but their image portrays Larry the Cable Guy to many, rather than statesmanship and intelligence.

Esben went on to tell us of his two best friends from Denmark. The visited us during that year. Christian lives in Dubai and is married to an Argentine girl. Phillip lives in England, married to an English girl. Think of that! These three men growing up in a rather small city in Denmark, now living in California, Dubai, and England. It's a small, small world!
