When we arrived in Rockport this Wednesday afternoon there was a sight not seen in a long time. Standing water in the fields and running water in drainage ditches showed us the rains had come. We are told that more than two inches have fallen so far. That's more than the rest of this year combined! We saw rain in the Hill Country of Texas. Flowers were blooming and cattle were grazing once again. It was a beautiful sight.
Want to go to a town where huntin' and ridin' and ropin' and raisin' goats is the life? Throw in sheep too! Then go to Rock Springs, Texas. You won't find it near an Interstate. There ain't no Wal-Mart Super Center. There IS a small Super S. Four wheelers are everywhere. Hunting is a year-round business. They have more exotics than Africa...(Texas tale). I had never been to Rock Springs. I am glad we went. It was real Texas. Rodeo is in in Rocksprings. The drive there is kinda like a Colorado one. Deep canyons and winding roads. We wanted to stay in their old Hotel. It is down for electrical work so we stayed in one of two motels. Nice room. $60.00. You can have Fiesta Texas, and Schlitterbon and all the rest. I like real places like Rock Sprangs....and Rockport.
