Call this a pet peeve BLOG if you will...but why the pictures? It happened again today for the millionth time. It seems to be a pattern for most newspapers, along with TV news. They show the MUG shots of these vicious criminals, as if they have done something worthy of a picture in print. These two had been recaptured after escaping from the Gregg County jail in Longview.One has been convicted of killing a man during a pawn shop robbery. The other is charged with a robbery and killing. Why not a picture of their victims? Or the children and wives left behind? Or no pictures at all? Or better yet, why not a brief one paragraph statement saying the men are once again behind bars?
Is there a collector somewhere who cuts out these pictures for his/her scrapbook so they can share them with the family at a reunion? I don't think so. How much more uplifting to see a pic of some straight "A" student, or a person picking up trash along the highway? Please, Ms Editor, no more mug shots of hoodlums, dope dealers, rapists, con men, T.O.,.......... oh no! We have to see T.O!. He may actually learn to wear his gimme cap with the bill to the front. We love to see that sparkling diamond in one ear that was purchased from money he received for dropping passes my grand-daughter could have caught. We've got to see T.O.! Hey, I am off the subject.
