It came from Charles Fake this Sunday morning. His reliable source is the National Hurricane Center in Miami. With those two involved you can begin boarding up. Here is the report:
Cloudiness and showers associated with a broad area of low pressure located about 950 miles east of the Windward Islands continue to become better organized. This system could become a tropical depression during the next day or so as it moves west-northwest about 15 MPH. There is a high chance...greater than 50 percent...of tropical cyclone formation in this area during the next 48 hours. Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor progress of this system. (This report is for the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf Of Mexico)
Since we live near the Gulf of Mexico it grabs our attention. We still are without rain. Not a drop over the last several days. Less than 4 inches for the year! We may get it all in one giant dosage. As Mark Twain wisely said: "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.". That is still true. It is in the Hand of the One who in forty days covered this entire planet with water. It is in the Hand of the One who sent this deluge: "Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up,say unto Ahab, prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the meanwhile that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain...." (I Kings 18:44-45)
So with this early report we will stand by and watch. We will prepare to evacuate if the call comes. We will survive the drought if that is our lot. We will trust our God through it all.
