I blogged a few days ago about Mona Lisa. I wrote about how she has been attacked, kidnapped, rocked, and abused through the years. Yesterday Charles Fake sent me an article from cnn.com/europe telling of the latest. This five-hundred year old masterpiece hanging quietly in the Louvre gallery in Paris has again been attacked. A woman came in and threw a mug at Mona. You might say Mona got mugged in Paris. Fortunately, the world's most famous painting is protected by bullet-proof glass so Mona continues to smile through the latest episode.
What is it that has caused various persons to slice her, pour acid on her, throw a rock at her, and even kidnap Mona and hold her captive under a bed, before releasing the still-smiling lady, two years later? What is it? I think I have an answer.
Mona Lisa is a timeless beauty. Persons are prone to resent others who do not show the same signs of aging they are struggling with. Beautiful or not, they resent it. I recently saw Sophia Loren in a commercial. The woman looked about forty. She may be close to twice that old. I was impressed! Ann just kinda' grunted. Was that jealousy by my beloved? On the other hand I saw Jack LaLane parading around trying to sell his veggie-crushing machines and it was pointed out to me how good he looked at ninety-plus. So what? All he has ever had to do is pushups and swim and pull boats through the water while holding a rope in his mouth. Did the man ever have a job? Did he ever go to a few thousand church suppers and events while battling to lose fifty pounds? Yes! There was jealousy by beloved number two. I almost threw my bowl of Blue Bell at the old goat!
On a serious note. There is so much anger today in the hearts of people. Our Creator is all love and we can become all hate and jealousy and rage.. It is not meant to be. Jesus can change all that when He comes to live in us and guide us. Have a nice day! No mugging, please!
