Christmas is over!! Packaging and boxes are out for trash. Cookies and extra feasts are depleted. Company has gone home. Toys are assembled, or not working. Credit Cards are exhausted. Carols have faded in to rock, hip-hop, C&W, and easy listening. The tree still stands, though stripped of all it's packages (except for the ones for Uncle Nate and Aunt Sue.They are down with the flu). The Bible is back in it's less prominent place. New Year's Eve parties are being planned by or for friends......SO....."Christmas is over until December 2010!" Right? WRONG!!!
The Christmas Believers follow is a continuing one throughout the year. It had a beginning in the heart of our loving Creator who saw we mortals in a terrible mess because of sin. We had to have relief from our guilt. Jesus was assigned the task to bring hope and life through His incredible sacrifice at Calvary. There had to be a Bethlehem to have a Calvary. In God's plan there had to be a baby born in miraculous fashion. He had to live sinless and die that way. Any volunteers? Sorry, but none of you qualify. There was only one acceptable candidate. He did the assignment well. It began at Bethlehem. You see how the Christmas story stays alive in our hearts through each day of the year. The bauble and tensil part is done for now. The Christ and Bethlehem and Jordan River, and Galilee and Calvary and Ascension Day, and eternity part will never be over. Get the picture? We don't put Christmas in a box and cram it in the attic. We live in it, and through it, every wonderful day. Merry Christmas, Believers!!!
