Where are mission opportunities? They are most everywhere. We who are Believers are to be missionaries in our daily walk. Too often we focus on self or circles of Christian friends, missing the mandate of our Lord which sends us to Jerusalem, Judea and the uttermost parts of the Earth.
First Baptist Rockport folks are extending arms of love and care to the uttermost parts. We have members in China today. We will soon have members in Connecticut. Sunday, members will be in the neighboring town of Taft having Vacation Bible School for the entire community! All of these responses come from folks who love the Lord and want to serve Him.
I will be closest to what is happening in Taft. We really have NO IDEA how many kids will respond. There may be a small number or we may be overwhelmed. Whatever, it will be God's doing and not our own. Folks have tried in various ways to spread the word in this largely Hispanic setting. The population of the city is about 90% Hispanic in the schools. Of that number many of them have little or no contact with a Bible teaching setting. Our folks have an exciting way of presenting it. Please join me in saturating their effort with our prayers. Some of the workers will come directly from work to go to Taft for Bible school. They won't even see their homes until after nine each evening. Sunday through Friday evening will be very busy for them.
So that is mission outreach. It is happening around us. Join the effort, if you haven't already.
