The second night of Vacation Bible School brought EIGHTY-FIVE kids! The excitement and work of this team from Rockport is amazing. It is also contagious! SIXTY-EIGHT of those children are from Taft! That is about DOUBLE the number enrolled last year. More to come!
Trucks with huge trailers are hauling grain from the fields from about ten in the morning until after dark in the evening. The clouds will appear threatening and some small showers have erupted, but for the most part, the fields of milo are becoming fields of stalks. Out through the fields are these ghost-like tubes and blades as another row of the Taft windfarm gets ready to happen. One cannot imagine how huge these machines are until up close. They have full-sized doors and stairways going up the inner parts. Giant cranes are needed to hoist the blades into place. I am still amazed by it all each day I pass them on the way to Taft.
So, we await night three. It is fun to see those old hallways crowded with kids, workers, and parents. Thanks be to God, and thanks be to First Baptist Church, Rockport. Thanks also to the greatest birder I know.
