It was inevitable one of these monstrous storms would hit a city head-on. There have been some near misses. One ripped through a part of Fort Smith just a few short years ago. Oklahoma City has had a direct hit. I remember Wichita Falls being torn apart. They are deadly and mostly unpredictable.
Joplin is a shambles where the twister struck. Over a hundred have died. Many more hundreds are recovering from injuries. Thousands have been made homeless and devoid of all the keepsakes of their lives. One cannot imagine what that is like unless it is experienced.
We pray for them. We should also looks for unselfish ways to share in our bounty with those who have lost everything. Care must be used to be certain it goes to the right place and person.
Who knows? We may be on the receiving end of nature's fury in a matter of weeks. I pray not.
