Commonly called "Lou Gehrig's Disease" ALS is an insipid, awful thing. It has taken two of our dear friends in recent years. Potsy Hunt of Taft fell first. Just weeks ago Dolores Edwards was taken from us after a gallant struggle. Today Ann and I are marching at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, along with many others, to remember our dear friends, and others to come, who will have to deal with ALS. Each walker has made or received donations to help in the fight against ALS.
How far will we walk? There is a goal distance. I have heard every thing from 5 k to ten miles! What the distance is doesn't make a lot of difference. Ann had a steroid shot in her knee yesterday so she could hobble at all.. Her distance will be limited. As an out of shape and overweight participant my goal is to find the nearest place to sit down.
We plan to be there, however. Our team remembering Dolores will be the largest one in numbers of all the teams. She was dearly loved by many.
It is a beautiful day in Rockport. Should be an ideal day for the walk.
